After finding a golden rock in her garden, a girl goes on an unexpected adventure with her friends.
Maia is a 9-year-old actress from Vancouver, Canada, who discovered her passion for film-making two years ago, when she started a film-making program called Young Moviemakers. In this program, Maia produced a series of successful short films with her peers, such as "Teen Chick", "A Hairy Tale", "Molly", "Another Recess", "Once Upon a Library" and "Pirates". These films were screened at various film festival such as: San Diego International Kids' Film Festival, Muskoka Independent Film Festival, Kaleidoscope Kids TV International Film Fest and South Bay Student Film Festival. With "Teen Chick" Maia won Best Young Filmmaker at Calgary International Film Festival - Youth by Youth Cinema and placed 2nd at Reel Expressions Youth Film Festival NY.
"Behind the Rocks" is Maia's first film independent of the kids movie-making program. From concept, script, to directing and editing, Maia was involved every step. "Behind the Rocks" has been selected to be screened at the Vancouver Short Film Festival, Magwill International Film Festival, POWFest 2016, Bonita Springs International Film Festival, and Florida Movie Festival. She hopes this will be the first of many more films. It is amazing to see the passion of film-making emerge at such an young age.
