Alison Philpotts has now been pursuing her painting interests and career over the last twenty five years, including enrolment in courses from post secondary offerings at a variety of institutions, to informal workshops.
In 2004, Alison decided to devote herself full time to her painting, always redefining her own contemporary landscape style.
The main subject with her acrylic painting is of a contemporary Western Canadian landscape. She chooses scenes that resonate on an emotional and spiritual level.
She invites the viewer to participate in a brief meditation on the intricate beauty of our natural environment, that our shared landscape is neither dormant nor neutral. The vitality and profundity of the landscape’s silent energy can offer solace, peace and a sense of belonging, an anchor, in this world in which we live.
Alison presently resides in Calgary, Alberta, with her husband and two sons.
