Valeria Bayona-Otero is a painter, drawer, and experimental animation artist who moved to Vancouver from Bogota, Colombia three years ago. She currently studies at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and is finishing her animation degree.
Valeria uses mainly acrylic paints, charcoal, pastels, colour pencils and two-dimensional digital animation to explore the relationship humans have with nature, spirituality, and society. She draws on her very own experiences and relationships with nature, spirituality, and society in Bogota and Vancouver.
Her aim is "to create awareness of how important nature is in our lives, as well as how the contemporary world sometimes hassles one's inner self, because of the money-oriented way in which most societies work."
