Born and raised on a farm in Southern Manitoba, Mike has made the Greater Vancouver area home for the past 15 years. He started drawing at the age of 12 inspired by the natural beauty of the country side. He went on to attend the fine arts program at the University of Manitoba where he studied drawing, painting, ceramics and majored in sculpture.
Mike has exhibited his work across Canada and has sold pieces throughout North America and the United Kingdom. His influences include Schiele, Klint, Kadinsky, Miro and Pollock, and he is inspired by American native art. His work is part representational of the music he listens to – the rhythm that beats to him. Meditation and spirituality also inspire him.
