I was born in 1989 in Edmonton, Alberta, but spent 17 years in Fort McMurray before returning to Edmonton to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012. My work investigates the relationship between perception and experience, more specifically, the way in which a viewer endeavors to examine and come to understand art. My process incorporates and combines technique with seemingly unrelated materials to create work that seeks to slow the process of comprehension and satisfaction given to objects in our society. The work plays with the push-and-pull between presence and absence while investigating forms of hiding, pretending, and deceiving.
